We have all become so busy in our own circles of life that most often than not, we forget to live in the moment and just be. We spend so much time looking up at those we want to be like, chasing our dreams, and trying to achieve it all, that we forget to look at those who are right in front of us. We have a hard time to accept that the moment in which we exist right now is the only true moment that we have and it is passing by oh-so-quickly while we are busy running after our ideals. The truth is slipping away in our pursuit of the delusion.
Being busy is in style. We never have enough time.
Now, I am not saying that we shouldn’t strive for our better futures, and just sit around doing nothing. I believe in hardwork, i believe in following one’s passions, i believe in striving to be the best version of ourselves, i believe in personal fulfillment and accomplishment.
But i also believe in not swamping ourselves with the expectations of others. I believe in letting go of some our ‘shoulds’ and embracing more of our ‘musts’. I believe in letting go of the desire to please everyone. I believe in letting go of the fear of “what will they think?!”. I believe in freeing ourselves of these unrealistic boundaries and breathing more naturally. I believe in letting go of the undue stress that is hogging us down and making us less happy.
It’s not about having less responsibility and less work, but instead about owning our responsibilities and choosing our sacrifices.
Living a life that is full of our own people and laughter and work and joy. Letting go of the negative vibes. Filtering the noise. Prioritizing our mental wellbeing and getting rid of the toxic relationships. Doing the MUSTS. Letting go of the SHOULDS. And channelling that energy into having a more balanced life, and being a better human.
To be able to live and breathe is such a privilege, that is never lost on me. We can create whatever life we want to live, except one that is perfect — because perfect life is an illusion, not a reality.
We can focus on the people that bring us joy. We can learn new skills to sustain ourselves. We can spend more time soaking up the sun, or drenching in the rain. We can share what we have. We can focus on what we already have and making the most out of it.
Finding abundance in our hearts. Finding contentment in our souls.
Happiness is not a race. Success is not a competition. Gratitude is the best medicine.
