In a series called Life Lately, I will be sharing from time to time some random moments that somehow get captured amidst all the mayhem and chaos. From the looks of our photos, it may seem that i have got it all together, but i don’t. I only capture the best moments, because frankly who wants to remember the spilled juice over new couch fabric, the umpteenth time your toddler trips and bangs his head, the unbelievable clutter and mess on the floors, those embarrassing grocery store tantrums. Gosh, its hard. And I don’t think we talk about it enough. Although i want to remember all the perfect moments, i also don’t want to forget the real everyday grit, how strong I was in face of all that madness, how patient i was when all i wanted was to run away or hide in a corner. I don’t think we mothers give ourselves enough credit. The amount of unconditional love we have for our children, always putting their needs before us, the patience, the hard work, its really something.
Anyways, let me get to the photos for now..Impromptu 20 minutes painting sessions that lead to 2 hours of scrubbing and washing later.I was just going to my room and i spotted this guy weirdly staring at me, haha. Rocking in his jammies. xxSometimes unplanned dinners make for the best ones, like these skillet chicken thighs that incorporated my leftover chickpeas and spinach. Yum.oh, how my kids love their books! specially the little one who often trots up to me with a new book in his hand saying “Boo Boo” and then expects me to do all the animations and theatricals. I really wish i could read to them more than i actually do. And thank you husband for capturing these photos, i love them.I was trying out a new lens and i love the vignette effect it does while up close. He never just sleeps anywhere he is. He is very particular about his sleeping conditions, lol. but lately its been a few times when he stuffs himself with paratha and then off he goes into the dreamland right there and then. Ahhh, to be one and free.“Look Mama! I made a Sun and a Tree!” — Hamza“Will you read me this Kang Fu Panda book? pleaseeeeeeeeeee?!” (its not kung fu but it IS panda so yeah.. i don’t correct him =D)Do you see what i have to deal with everyday? i swear they don’t come naughtier than this one!Ummm… yeah! he is making a roti. because Mama needs to do dishes and playing with a little flour and water is a better option than sticking your eyes to a screen. It also means a 15-minute cleanup session for Mama later but we are all about compromises here =D Please see his level of concentration while rolling, after he was done he asked for a Naan to be eaten with the Paratha he just made, haha. (also the amount of time we spend on our kitchen table doing painting, eating, creating, watching movies etc is unbelievable! one of us is always here if not all.)Weekend loitering.Gosh that caramel on top was GOOOOODDDDDDDD …!!Post vaccination slumber. Poor kid had to take THREE shots at a time. He was real brave! Need to do a separate post on King Abdullah Park soon. The park is HUGE and so beautiful. We have been there twice and haven’t yet seen all of it. With the weather getting pleasant around evenings these days, i see more frequent visits in our future.
Thats it for now. Have a nice weekend y’all!
